Professional Renewal Pathway
Practicing History teachers who are interested in furthering their studies in both the discipline of History, and History education, will find the program offers exciting units of study that are aligned with the new Australian Curriculum, and offer opportunities for more personalised pursuits.

** Additional Accreditation Pathway
If you are seeking to become a History teacher through either the Graduate Certificate or Masters pathways, you must already hold a recognised qualification in Primary or Secondary teaching. These are pathways for “additional accreditation” only. To be qualified to teach History in Australian schools (following our state jurisdictional requirements), you must complete the following (including the optional professional experience placement associated with EDUC6224 if a Primary or Non-HSIE qualified Secondary Teacher):

Contact the History Specialisation Coordinator
Applicants should discuss their professional renewal or additional accreditation goals with the History Specialisation Coordinator – Dr Robert Parkes before enrolling in courses. Depending on what you have already completed in your previous university studies, you may not have to complete the same number of units in the History discipline as is specified above (and may be able to take free electives instead). Only an assessment from the Specialisation Coordinator will be able to confirm that.
